About the ESF Plenary Lecture Series

Each fall in ESF we look forward to bringing all ESF students and faculty together for a series of plenary lectures. These plenaries give students the opportunity to engage with guests from a range of fields as we grapple with the shared question of how education can be used to structure one’s thinking, one’s self, and ultimately one’s life as a whole. Through their lectures, speakers reflect on the nature and meaning of liberal education. These lectures are required for students enrolled in ESF. Students not enrolled in ESF may enroll in the lecture series only for 1 unit (ESF 50).
