ESF Enrollment

ESF students are selected by lottery based on interest expressed in Approaching Stanford forms in June. Unfortunately, there is far more interest than we can accommodate, and it is extremely difficult to switch ESF classes or sections.

Occasionally a space will open up in ESF, and if so, you will be able to request it in VCA-COLLEGE once COLLEGE section petitions open in early September. For the schedule, please see here. ESF enrollment is managed by COLLEGE and you will submit a request for a change just as if it were a COLLEGE course.

Be certain you've confirmed that the unique 7-unit schedule, including the Friday plenary lecture (at the same time and place as ESF 50), will work for you and fit with your other autumn plans!

ESF 50

Non-ESF students may enroll in ESF 50 to receive one unit for attending all plenary lectures.
